Claims are special a type of proposal
A claim is a proposal for approval of an expense already incurred.
The claim can be for contribution of time or expense paid by a member.
Claims are awarded in DOU equity in the Cake (DAO, project etc).
The value in DOU for the Claim is typically the equivalent of the agreed currency multiplied by the applicable ratio or multiplier. See Valuing DOUgh.
